REV. KAREN HORST

One of Karen’s favourite lines is that “she will try anything at least once if it is legal and moral!” From riding roller coasters to enjoying trips on the family motorcycle, life is rich with God’s blessings. Karen’s husband, Rick, serves as minister of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Barrie. They delight in their family including their three children (including identical twins) and times spent at their cottage on Big Wind Lake.

An admitted student for life, Karen has a B.A., M.R.E. and an M.DIV. Karen began her work in The Presbyterian Church in Canada as an Area Educational Consultant and then moved into representing The PCC in church school curriculum development and design. She has written many resources for the denomination and served on a number of national committees including being Convenor of PWS &D for 6 years. Her deep passion for mission has driven all phases of her ministry. She has traveled extensively in Central America, India and Africa. Karen also loves working in the local pastorate with all its daily opportunities to share the love of Christ in word and deed. Karen admits that her creativity gets her into big ventures. From building a school in Guatemala to having to sing in church to raise money for the carpet fund, Karen is always in the middle of some new venture.
